Home Remodeling

If you’d like to breathe new life into your living space without the sky-high costs of traditional remodeling, it’s actually a lot easier than you’d expect! Here are eight fun, inexpensive ways to give your home a facelift.

Home Remodeling

1: Upgrade Your Doors

They’re one of the most important fixtures in your house, yet you probably don’t even think about your doors until they start squeaking or get scribbled on by your toddler. How about painting them a fun color or replacing them with hanging beads?

2: Throw Open The Windows

If you’re still using blinds, you’re missing out on gorgeous natural light. Toss those dusty trappers and let the sunshine in, preferably after you’ve replaced your weather stripping and caulked the frames so your windows will be just as beautiful as the light that comes streaming through them.

3: Tile It Up

Replacing your kitchen or bathroom tiles can change the whole atmosphere of the room. Look into porcelain tiles for style and gloss, ceramic tiles for contemporary chic or mosaic tiles for a splash of personality.

4: Add Some Color

Color has been psychologically proven to improve mood, so don’t be afraid to bring a few sections of the rainbow into your home. You might re-upholster your couch, for example, or decorate your chairs with colorful cushions and throw pillows.

5: Beautify Your Backsplash

The backsplash is the area above your sink and underneath your cabinets. It’s another one of those places you’ve probably never thought about, but giving it a tiled, patterned or wallpapered design can completely transform your kitchen for the better.

6: Fix Your Fixtures

They may have come in stainless steel, but that doesn’t mean they have to stay that way. How about a vintage look of solid brass? Or maybe chrome for the opposite end of the spectrum, something sleek and modern?

7: Hang It All Up

De-clutter your rooms by putting everything on the wall instead. For example, wall-mounted cabinets will free up floor space, and hanging baskets can take care of all the toiletries making a mountain on your bathroom counter.

8: Lay Down Carpet

If you’ve been clunking around hardwood floors, think about installing carpet for a cozy, comfortable remodeling project. If you already have carpet, consider replacing it with a patterned or textured version that will make the whole space feel new again.
